Dentasys vs Gesden: the cloud alternative to the long-standing dental software
Gesden is the program almost every dental practice in Spain knows. Dentasys is what many look for when they want a published price, no extra modules, and the freedom to work from any device.
In short
Gesden, by Infomed (Henry Schein group), is the most established dental software in Spain: over 30 years and more than 14,000 practices, according to Infomed. It comes in two versions: Gesden G5, a Windows program sold with a licence and monthly maintenance, and Gesden One, its web version, sold as a service. It does not publish its base price. Dentasys is cloud dental software with a single published fee of €80/month + VAT, with unlimited users and dentists and no extra modules, including AI-prepared treatment plans, Dasy (an AI assistant that carries out tasks inside the program), WhatsApp via Meta's official API, staff time tracking and marketing measured in patients and euros; the AI voice receptionist is optional. Gesden is a better fit if you rely on its radiology integration or its network of regional offices; Dentasys, if you want a clear fee with no extra modules. We migrate your Gesden data free of charge with the annual plan.

What Gesden One is
Gesden One is the web version of Gesden. According to Infomed, it is the company's «web software», launched in 2019, built with .NET Core and Angular, and it works on PC, Mac, laptop, tablet and mobile. It is contracted as a service billed monthly, whereas Gesden G5, the classic Windows program, is still sold with a licence and maintenance. Infomed does not publish the price of either.
On top of Gesden One, Infomed offers dentIA (AI that reads the X-ray and proposes an odontogram and a report with a treatment plan), Clinipad One for biometric signing, SMS and email, and Image ONE for cloud imaging. If you are looking for a cloud version of Gesden, Gesden One is Infomed's answer; Dentasys is the alternative with a published price and no extra modules.
Why a practice considers leaving Gesden
Gesden has been on the Spanish dental market for over 30 years and it shows: it is solid, the whole sector knows it and its integration with radiology equipment is among the broadest. We are not going to pretend otherwise. If your team knows it inside out and your regional office looks after you well, Gesden works.
The reasons practices call us are usually different: they want to know what they will pay without asking for a quote, they do not want every new feature to be an extra, or they want to add dentists and workstations without the fee changing.
- They want to work from the iPad in the treatment room and from home in the evening.
- They prefer a published fee, with no separate modules or packs.
- They want to add dentists and computers without the price changing.
- They want AI to answer the phone, prepare treatment plans and measure marketing.
Where each one puts artificial intelligence
Infomed has put its AI into the X-ray: dentIA detects structures and treatments and proposes an odontogram and a report with a treatment plan. Its Pack Premium adds an AI assistant linked to the switchboard and WhatsApp.
Dentasys spreads it across the practice's day: the voice receptionist answers when reception cannot and adds the appointment to the diary, the WhatsApp assistant books appointments by chat, the treatment plan is prepared from what you dictate in the surgery, Dasy does the tasks you ask for and the marketing module measures how many patients and euros each campaign brings in.
How data is migrated from Gesden to Dentasys
You do not do it. Our team transfers your Gesden database to Dentasys preserving the history, including the consent forms Gesden stores in encrypted files. The practice keeps working as normal during the process.
- Patients, clinical history, odontogram and medical alerts.
- Past diary and future appointments, by dentist and treatment room.
- Treatment plans, accepted treatments and payments.
- Invoicing and previous invoice series.
- Signed documents and consent forms.
When Gesden is still the better option
If your practice depends on radiology equipment with an integration exclusive to Gesden, if you want support from a nearby regional office or if your team has used Gesden for years and the change is not worth it, Gesden is a perfectly reasonable choice. We would rather tell you in the demo than have you find out three months later.
Where Gesden is strong (our words)
- · Over 30 years in the dental market and more than 14,000 practices in Spain, according to Infomed.
- · Integration with the main imaging systems and its own cloud dental PACS.
- · 14 regional offices in Spain and more than 50 support technicians.
Our verdict
If you value the radiology integration, Infomed's network of regional offices and your team's familiarity with it, Gesden (G5 or Gesden One) remains a defensible option. If you want a published fee with no extra modules, unlimited users, the freedom to work from any device and AI that answers the phone, prepares treatment plans and measures your marketing, Dentasys is the Gesden alternative you are looking for.
